Senator Rand Paul endorses Gary Johnson for US Senate
August 28, 2018, Albuquerque, NM -- Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has endorsed former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson in his bid to unseat Democrat incumbent Martin Heinrich in the U.S. Senate.
Announcing his endorsement, Paul said, “Gary Johnson is a true fiscal conservative. As Governor, he reduced the size of government while improving services. He cut taxes, and he set what may be a record by vetoing more than 700 unnecessary pieces of legislation.
“His leadership on issues of government overreach, protecting Americans’ Fourth Amendment rights against mass surveillance, and common sense foreign policy is sorely needed in the United States Senate, for New Mexico and the nation.
“He will be an important ally and a critical independent voice.”
Johnson, who served two terms as a Republican Governor, is running for the Senate on the Libertarian ticket.
Governor Bill Weld (MA):
"Proud to be among the first to contribute to my friend Gary Johnson's U.S. Senate campaign. He will be great for New Mexico, and the nation."
Judge Jim Gray (Ret.):
"About the candidacy of former Governor Gary Johnson for US Senate from New Mexico: I know this man, have campaigned hand in hand with this man, and I strongly request that you help to support this man for US Senate. Under these circumstances of widespread polarization and dysfunctionality, Gary Johnson would be the perfect choice to help unite us all."
Eric Brakey, Republican Senate Candidate in Maine
"I think that Gary Johnson would be one of the best U.S. Senators in the U.S. Senate were he to win."
